Losing your Body on Salvia is a Heavy Trip

We are bodies, and our relationships with our bodies can be a source of pain and frustration, and a source of healing and inspiration. In 2015 I gave this talk in Boston as part of a Psymposia forum on different ways we have relationships with drugs. As therapist specializing in substance use disorders, I think a lot about how addiction and substance abuse can hurt our bodies and our connections with ourselves and others. As a psychedelic researcher, I think a lot about how substances can heal our bodies and our connections.

Watch this talk to hear two examples from my clinical and research careers about how drugs and bodies affect one another, and how that interplay has influenced how I think about psychotherapy.
